November 23, 2015, 7:26p.m. – BALLET Manila’s co-artistic director Osias Barroso renders the classic tale of “Pinocchio” into a ballet story on Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 4-6 at the Aliw Theater in Pasay.

Barroso, a Communication Arts alumnus and a former member of the Salinggawi Dance Troupe, said this new interpretation of “Pinocchio” was a fitting Christmas offering.

“Because of its lessons about love, friendship and honesty, Pinocchio satisfies Ballet Manila’s goal of presenting a children’s Christmas ballet that the audience will be able to relate to and is familiar with,” he told the Varsitarian.

The full length, two-act production features the adventures of carpenter Gepetto’s wooden puppet magically turned into a young boy by the Blue Fairy.

Fil-Am singer Tippy dos Santos will be the guest story teller and will also perform “When You Wish Upon A Star” from the story’s 1940 Walt Disney adaptation.

Barroso helped establish Ballet Manila with Lisa Macuja-Elizalde in 1985.
