“Everything will be more comprehensible [in Filipino] especially for the uneducated people, the poor ones who do not even speak good English,” wika ng Dekano Marilu Madrunio, isang dalubhasa sa wikang Ingles at lingguwistika, sa idinaos na “Athena Talk: The Relationship between Language and the Law” sa Benavides auditorium sa UST Junior High School.

“If you are both Filipinos why do you have to use English especially when the one being investigated in court is not an educated person? So it really slows down the process,” wika pa niya.

“The Philippines still believes that the prestigious language is English, not the local language. So all other disciplines obviously will also be affected. In the case of law, that’s how we look at Filipino; it is not at par with English,” wika niya.
