UST leaped the bar of excellence anew, registering impressive performances in three licensure examinations while making ripples in the individual test rankings.

Thomasian graduates stamped their class in the Pharmacy, Architecture, and Nutrition board examinations to reaffirm the University’s status as one of the best academic institutions in the country.

With four Thomasians landing in the top 10, UST emerged as the top-performing school in the Pharmacy board exam, posting a 91-per cent passing rate compared to a 57-per cent national passing mark.

Phillip Oligario Manasan, Ma. Kriselda Calma Dela Cruz, Joshua Bañaria Arimado, and Dolores Rejoice Rosario Dizon ranked fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth, respectively, to lead the 247 UST board passers.

The University of the Philippines and University of San Carlos held the other six places in the top 10.

Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Priscilla Torres described the results as “highly satisfying.”

“This result is a good sign that we are continuing to reflect the high standards UST is known for. We have been excelling these past few years,” Torres told the Varsitarian.

Torres said that it was one of UST’s best Pharmacy board exam results to date.

“We posted an 89-per cent passing rate last year but given the fact that we have plenty of first-time takers this year, I can confidently say we have improved a lot,” Torres said, referring to the 239 first-takers out of the 272 examinees who passed this year’s board.

Aside from the four Thomasians who entered the top ten, Torres said that the 13th, 14th, 15th 18th, and 19th spots were occupied by UST graduates.

“Hopefully in January, we can top the exam again just like last year. We will continue supporting our future pharmacists by conducting their review sessions with our best faculty members,” Torres said.

More than helping UST secure a better ranking in the overall school performance assessment, Doni Rae Rodriguez Dionisio and Francis Cyril de Guzman put their respective colleges on the spotlight as they topped the Architecture and Nutrition and Dietetics board exams.

The College of Architecture chalked up a 72-percent passing mark in the June licensure exam with four Thomasians, including Dionisio, occupying spots in the top 10.

Dionisio placed first with an 83.30-percent grade. Glenn Fredrick Tan Khu and Charles Jason Ching Wee, who both registered 82.40, shared the third spot while Leandro Nicholas Rañoa Poco finished fifth with an 81.90-percent rating.

A total of 83 out of 116 Thomasian examinees passed the architecture board.

Meanwhile, de Guzman led the new Thomasian nutritionists with an 86.4-percent mark, while three others barged into the top 10.

UST emerged as the third best-performing school, while the University of the Philippines’ Diliman and Los Baños campuses placed first and second, respectively.

With an 80 per cent passing rate, 59 UST graduates aced the exam. The national passing rate was 56.4 per cent.

Tied in fourth place were Maria Sharina Nogor and Giselle Ong (85 percent) while Jamee Luy ranked eighth (84.30 percent).

College of Education Dean Clotilde Arcangel said the results showed great signs of improvement for the University in the field of nutrition.
