June 17, 2015, 11:28 a.m. – A FORMER UST official has
been elected as the new head of the Dominican-run Colegio de San Juan de
Letran.

Fr. Clarence Victor Marquez, O.P. will be Letran’s 81st rector
and president, succeeding acting rector Fr. Orlando Aceron, O.P.

Marquez served as regent of studies and director of the UST
Institute of Religion from 2004 to 2008, vice rector for finance from 2006 to
2007, and acting vice rector from 2007 to 2008.

Marquez finished Sacred Theology, cum laude, at UST in 1994.

He was ordained to the priesthood in 1995.

Marquez holds a doctorate in Sacred Theology major in
Biblical Studies, which he obtained in 2013 with the highest honors.

He finished his basic education in Letran in 1985 and
graduated summa cum laude at the Philippine Dominican Center of Institutional
Studies in 1991.

Marquez will be formally installed on June 20 at Letran’s
Student Center Auditorium. Dominican Province of the Philippines Prior
Provincial Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner, O.P. will lead the ceremony. Daryl
