Mañago

A RETIRED professor from the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) passed away last July 8 following complications from diabetes. He was 57 years old.

Rey Amado Mañago taught in CFAD’s advertising department for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2014.

The professor was known for designing the first 10-foot Christmas tree for the Paskuhan festivities in the University in 1980.

CFAD instructor Ma. Victoria Mortel said Mañago had the “highest level of proficiency in teaching” his students.

“He’s got very high standards [hindi] lang sa craft [but] also professionalism. Standard siya ng class, fashion and craftsmanship,” Mortel, who was also Mañago’s mentee, told the Varsitarian.

Mañago’s remains lie at the Loyola Memorial Chapels in Marikina until July 11.
