THE UNIVERSITY is set to kickstart Academic Year 2017 to 2018 with the Misa de Apertura or opening Mass on Aug. 1 at the Santisimo Rosario Parish Church.

The Misa de Apertura, also called the Mass of the Holy Spirit, will begin with the parade of University deans, principals and institute directors.

San Jose, Nueva Ecija Bishop Roberto Mallari, chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, will preside over the Mass.

Senior High School Principal Pilar Romero will deliver this year’s Discurso de Apertura, the keynote speech delivered by a professor for the opening of classes.

A reception will follow at the main lobby and mezzanine of the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building.

The annual Welcome Walk, where freshmen pass through the Arch of the Centuries as a symbolic welcome to UST, is scheduled on Aug. 4
