LAKAS ng Diwang Tomasino (Lakasdiwa) is the sole university-wide political party accredited by the UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) to field bets for the Central Student Council (CSC) Executive Board elections this year.
Comelec Chairman Arvin Bersonda said Lakasdiwa was the only political party that applied for accreditation following the suspension of rival Lakas Tomasino Coalition (LTC).
“Lakasdiwa is the only political party that applied for accreditation. The LTC is suspended for this academic year,” Bersonda said in an online interview with the Varsitarian.
In a memorandum released on Saturday, Comelec said Lakasdiwa was the only political party that met the requirements set by the UST Students’ Election Code of 2011.

Comelec suspended LTC on May 24, 2017 after it violated online campaigning rules during the elections in April 2017.
LTC has yet to comment as of writing.
The filing of certificates of candidacy for the CSC Executive Board elections is set on March 21, while the final list of candidates will be released on March 23.
