Sacred Theology dean elected head of Dominicans in UST

FACULTY OF Sacred Theology Dean Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P. will again lead the Dominicans in UST after being elected prior of the Priory of St. Thomas Aquinas, a post he previously held in 2013.

Aligan succeeded Fr. Rolando Castro, O.P., the University’s vice rector for finance, who held the post for three years since 2015.

Aligan served as University secretary general from 1995 to 2001, prefect of theologians at the UST Central Seminary from 1981 to 2001, and regent of the Faculty of Arts and Letters from 1991 to 1995 and from 2015 to present.

He obtained his bachelor, licentiate and doctorate degrees in Sacred Theology at the UST Ecclesiastical Faculties. He was ordained to priesthood in the Dominican Order in 1981.

Aligan, a former vice rector for religious affairs, was a member of the Provincial Council of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, and consultant for religious education of the Commission on Higher Education.
