HUMAKOT ng 75,776 na manonood ang Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival Competition na ginanap sa Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) sa Pasay City, Trinoma sa Quezon City, Greenbelt sa Makati, at Alabang Town Center sa Muntinlupa noong Hulyo 27 hanggang Agosto 4. Mas mataas ito ng 13 porsiyento mula sa mahigit 66,000 na manonood noong nakaraang taon.

Ang ika-siyam na pagdiriwang ng malayang pelikula ay isa sa mga pinakamatagumpay sa kasaysayan, ayon sa presidente ng CCP na si Nestor Jardin.

“I think this is one of the best batches we ever had,” ani Jardin. “The true success of a festival lies in the quality of its films. And I guess our audience has become engrossed to agree with us.”
