THE UST Female Tracksters raked in 10 medals to bolster their title defense bid while the Male Tracksters added two in Day 3 of the UAAP Season 79 athletics tournament at the PhilSports Arena Friday.

Eloisa Luzon and Louilyn Pamatian bagged gold and silver, respectively, in the 400-meter sprint. Luzon then joined Alyssa Marie Andrade, Karen Janario and Glaisa Salcedo for another gold in the women’s 4×100-meter relay with a 47.91-second finish.

Emily Jean Obiena also captured gold in the women’s pole vault, beating teammates Richelle Abotaimo and Sarah Dequinan who both pocketed bronze.

The Female Tracksters almost swept the women’s 3000-meter walk after Richie Dala and Krisha Sardenia took home silver and bronze, respectively.

Aira Teodosio added another silver following a 36.92-meter mark in the women’s discus throw while Jhanine Mansueto clocked in 12:20.66 for the bronze medal in the 3000-meter steeple chase.

Mark Conrad Manipon bagged the Male Tracksters’ lone individual event medal, winning silver in the javelin throw with a 51.42 meter finish.

Romnick Nor, Dustin Jorielle Devera, Joel Hera and Roque Lesondra finished the men’s 4×1000-meter relay with a 42.54 mark for another silver.

“[Sa women’s] maganda pa ‘yung performance as of now. Malaki pa ‘yung chance na ma-retain yung championship,” UST head coach Manny Calipes told the Varsitarian.

“Sa men’s, hindi naging maganda yung performance ngayon. Pero sana may improvement at makabawi,” he added.

The Female Tracksters have a total of 21 medals (6-8-7 gold-silver-bronze) while the Male Tracksters have collected eight (2-3-3 gold-silver-bronze).

UAAP athletics action will continue today at the same venue.
