THE UST Female Tracksters secured two gold medals while the Male Tracksters contributed one gold and three bronze medalss in Day 4 of the UAAP Season 79 athletics tournament at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Saturday.
Jhanine Mansueto and Sarah Dequinan lorded it over the women’s 10,000-meter run and women’s heptathlon, respectively.
Lambert Padua clocked in 24:10.47 for to win gold in the men’s 5000-meter walk, beating teammate John Lloyd Lamaclamac who notched bronze behind a 26:37.07 performance.
Kevin Capangpangan and Joel Hera each won bronze in the men’s 5,000-meter run and men’s 400-meter hurdles, respectively.
“On target ang women’s team na mag-champion despite the very strong showing of FEU while sa men’s, we will work very hard sa last three events [tomorrow] to overtake UE for third place,” UST coach Manny Calipes told the Varsitarian.
The Female Tracksters have a total of 23 medals (8-8-7 gold-silver-bronze) while the Male Tracksters have collected 12 (3-3-6 gold-silver-bronze).
The last day of UAAP athletics action will continue today at the same venue.
