THE FEMALE Tracksters successfully defended their crown last Feb. 11 for the fourth year in a row, and they could not have done it without ace sprinter Louielyn Pamatian’s heroics.

The Negros Occidental native solidified her place as one of the best runners in the UAAP after nabbing back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards.

Pamatian reaped gold medals in the 4×400-meter relay, 400-meter sprint and the 800 and 1,500-meter runs.

“[Naging] palaban lang ako kasi hindi dapat hadlang ang injury para sumuko. Alam ko na maraming umaasa sa akin at [inisip] ko na kailangan may [mabigay] akong points sa team,” Pamatian told the Varsitarian.

Pamatian suffered an injury in the hamstring a week before the competition.

But the Palarong Pambansa standout said the MVP plum was just a bonus, since her main goal was to help the Female Tracksters extend their reign in the women’s division.

Last year, Pamatian grabbed three golds and one silver en route to her first MVP.
