October 4, 2015, 6:14p.m. – THE UST Golden Shuttlers cruised past Adamson University to salvage fifth place to end their UAAP Season 78 badminton tournament campaign at the Rizal Memorial Complex badminton hall Sunday.

Both the Male and Female Shuttlers finished the tournament with a 3-4 win-loss record and with the same standing they had last year.

The Male Shuttlers sailed to a 4-1 victory while the Female Shuttlers bulldozered Adamson with a 5-0 shutout.

“Kaya sana naming mag-Final Four ngayon. [Kaso] kinapos lahat, iyon ang nakakalungkot,” UST head coach Noli Cajefe told the Varsitarian.

UST’s Paul Pantig and Edgar Reyes gave Adamson a 21-13, 21-11 demolition for the fourth match of the men’s division.

The Female Shuttlers dominated the field by winning all but one matches in straight sets.

Captain Patricia Barredo’s last UAAP game was halted in the first set of the final match when Adamson’s Christine Garin retired due to injury.

“At least, 12 points [ang maibibigay ng team sa overall rankings],” Barredo said.
