THE UST Growling Tigresses used a strong fourth quarter to upend the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 88-65, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

The Tigresses pulled away in the payoff period with a 26-2 run where they outscored Adamson, 32-16.

“I think we’re sharing the ball and we’re being unselfish. We’re hitting the best open shots that we can. ‘Yung mga three points namin basically in the second half went it. It was a total team effort,” UST coach Haydee Ong said.

The Tigresses had 24 assists on 34-made field goals.

Anjel Anies led UST’s balanced offense with 22 points on a four of seven three-point shooting clip, while four other Tigresses scored in double-digits.

Lady Falcons Jamie Alcoy, Nathalia Prado and Kathleen Araja combined for 38 points.

UST improved to a 7-1 win-loss record.

UST will next face the De La Salle University on Oct. 18, Wednesday, 8 a.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.
