THE FEU Tamaraws obliterated the winless UST Growling Tigers, 96-70, in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

The Tams improved to a 5-4 record while UST dropped to 0-9.

The Tigers played sans top players Jordan Sta. Ana due to a right shoulder injury and big men Steve Akomo and Justin Arana due to sickness.

FEU led from the get go and never looked back leading by as many as 36 points after Alejandro Iñigo’s layup midway through the third period.

UST head coach Boy Sablan said the absence of his players was a big handicap for the team.

FEU fired seven of their 12 three-pointers in the second quarter, giving the Tams a huge 53-25 cushion after the first half.

The Tamaraw bench spearheaded FEU’s offense with a combined 62 points. Ken Tuffin led FEU with 14 points.

Oliver De Guzman and Jeepy Faundo both had 17 for UST.

The Tams took advantage of the Tigers’ sloppy ball handling and scored 27 points off UST’s 23 turnovers.

FEU had 27 assists and 37 field goals.

The Growling Tigers will try to break into the winning column against the National University Bulldogs on Oct. 22, Sunday, 2 p.m. Ma. Angela Christa Coloma###
