The Ateneo Blue Eagles handed UST its 13th straight defeat, 102-83, on Saturday, pushing the Growling Tigers within one loss away from their first winless season in the Final Four era.

Leading for most of the game, the Blue Eagles notched their 12th-straight win.

UST had lost 17-straight games dating back to last season.

The Eagles pulled away for good with a 14-3 run.

“Nandoon na, nasa amin na ang bola pero laging [kinukulang] pagdating sa dulo. Siguro rebuilding time na ‘to sa team para mas mabuo kami next season,” Tigers captain Marvin Lee said.

Ateneo broke free from a 33-all deadlock in the second with a 16-6 run to take the lead at the half, 49-39.

The Eagles scored 21 second chance points against UST’s nine.

Thirdy Ravena flirted with a triple-double after tallying 20 points, 8 rebounds and seven assists for Ateneo.

Wendell De Guzman paced UST with 19 points.

UST will try to avoid a winless season with its final game against the University of the East Red Warriors on Nov. 12, Sunday, 12 p.m., at the same venue.
