THE UST Growling Tigresses crumbled against the Far Eastern University, 62-58, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

Lady Tam Valerie Mamaril’s dagger triple put FEU up by four with 52.3 seconds to go, 60-56.

Tigress Anjel Anies drained two freethrows to cut the lead but FEU’s Precious Arellado answered with a pair of her own.

“In all departments, we did lose against FEU. I think FEU wanted this [win] more than us,” UST coach Haydee Ong told the Varsitarian.

The Lady Tamaraws shot 22-for-35 from the line as UST committed 32 fouls.

Mamaril led the Lady Tams with 23 points while Arellado chalked up 13 markers.

Team captain Jhenn Angeles was the lone scorer in double-digits for UST with 21.

The Tigresses dropped to third place with a 10-3 win-loss record behind the University of the East and National University.

UST will end the elimination round against the undefeated NU on Nov. 11, Saturday, 10 a.m., at the same venue.
