TWO UST spikers will represent the country in the 29th Southeast Asian Beach Volleyball Championships in Sentosa, Singapore from September 28 to 30.

Lady Spiker Cherry Rondina will team up with Far Eastern University’s Bernadeth Pons while Tiger Spiker Anthony Arbasto will join and Tamaraw Jude Garcia in the men’s division.

The high-leaping Rondina hopes nothing but the gold medal this year.

“Very happy and blessed ako kasi ‘di ko in-expect na sa kakayahan ko eh makakasabak ako sa ganitong kumpetisyon. Pinangarap ko itong pagkakataon na ‘to simula pagkabata,” Rondina said in an online interview with the Varsitarian.

Former UST beach volleyball head coach Emil Lontoc has also decided to come out of retirement and call the shots for the Philippine teams.

Rondina said the team started training last August 31.

15 teams from Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Timor Leste and Thailand will participate in this year’s championships.
