THE UST Lady Spikers swept their way back to the finals while the Tiger Spikers earned a twice-to-beat advantage after beating the Far Eastern University at the SM Sands by the Bay Thursday.

The Lady Spikers went undefeated in seven games while the Tiger Spikers ended the eliminations with a 6-1 card for second place behind the National University.

The Lady Spikers nosed out the Lady Tamaraws in a three-set thriller, 22-20, 17-21, 15-13, to complete the sweep.

With the deciding set tied at 12-all, UST’s Caitlyn Viray scored three consecutive points to secure the match.

Rondina had 18 points while former Rookie of the Year Viray chalked up 14.

Bernadette Pons’ 26-point outburst was not enough to lift the Lady Tams as FEU committed 20 errors in the match.

“Maraming errors (ang FEU) tapos gumanda pa laro ni Caitlyn sa bandang third set…kailangan talaga consistent ang motivation sa kanya na dapat lalaban siya hanggang dulo,” UST head coach Paul Jan Doloiras said.

In men’s play, the Tiger Spikers zapped the Tamaraws, 21-13, 22-20, to take the twice-to-beat advantage.

Arbasto exploded with a season-high 26 points while men’s MVP Kris Roy Guzman added six markers.

Former Rookie of the Year Jeremiah Barrica got 10 points for FEU.

The semifinals will be tomorrow, Friday, 3:30 p.m., at the same venue.
