THE UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe bagged back-to-back championships in the National Cheerleading Competition at the SM Mall of Asia Arena yesterday.
Salinggawi defended its all-girls’ title in the college division and took home the gold medal in the poms all-girls division.
The dance troupe struggled to get its act together days before the tournament because some members had conflicting academic schedules while others were nursing injuries, said member Nine Javinez.
“Ayaw na talaga ng coach namin kasi baka mamaya may ma-aksidente na naman but still sumali kami at mas lalong naming pinag-igihan para makapag-compete,” she told the Varsitarian.
Last March 10, UST Prime and the UST Yellow Jackets emerged champions in the 2017 National Dance Championships and National Drumline Championships, respectively.
