UST Female Woodpushers outsmart Adamson

THE UST Woodpushers split their games against the Adamson University in the UAAP Season 80 chess tournament at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Sunday.

The Female Woodpushers dominated the Lady Falcons, 3-1, after May Ann Alcantara and Michaela Concio broke a one-all series tie and disposed of Abigail Tamundong and Charisse Zafe, respectively.

Crissa Cañada gave the Falcons their lone win with a win over UST’s Cyamir Villanueva.

In men’s play, the Male Woodpushers fell short against the Falcons, 1.5-2.5.

UST’s Heirry Manaloto and Michael Manansala suffered defeats from their respective opponents while Christian Flores forced a draw against Adamson’s Jayson Tapia.

Peter Ablid salvaged UST’s only win against Falcon Christian Huavas.

The women’s team is at fifth place with 4.5 points while the men’s team is at last place with 2 points.

The Male Woodpushers will face the Ateneo de Manila University on Feb. 24, Saturday, while the Female Woodpushers will go against the National University at the same venue.
