HAZEL Lustan’s late goal pushed the UST Lady Booters past the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 1-0, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.
Lustan freed herself from UP’s tight defense and found the back of the net in the 85th minute.
The Lady Maroons received a yellow card in the 87th minute as UST held off UP in the dying minutes.
Despite the win, UST head coach Priscilla “Aging” Rubio expressed dismay over some calls.
“Nakita ko talaga na gusto nila manalo kaya ginawa lang nila lahat though minsan may mga ‘di magagandang pago-officiate ng game, so hindi na lang namin mina-mind,” she told the Varsitarian.
UST’s Charisa Lemoran had a clear shot on a free kick attempt in the 72nd minute but the ball went wide to the left.
UP also had a chance in the 79th mark but Aira Agustin’s long shot went over the crossbar.
The Lady Booters (2-1) will face the Ateneo de Manila University on March 11, Saturday, 5 p.m., at the same venue.
