CHARISA Lemoran’s hat-trick powered the UST Lady Booters against the Ateneo de Manila University, 3-2, in the first-round ender of the UAAP Season 79 women’s football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.
After scoring two goals in the first half that put UST at a 2-1 advantage, Lemoran freed herself from Atenean defenders and found the back of the net in the 55th minute, 3-1.
Kathleen Camille Rodriguez drilled a goal in the 69th minute to help Ateneo inch closer, 2-3. But Isabella Sabio’s potential game-tying shot in the 93rd minute went wide as the UST improved to second place.
“Maganda na ‘yung nagyari sa team for now so okay na ‘yun. Kaunting polish na lang [sa finishing,]” UST head coach Priscilla Aging Rubio told the Varsitarian.
Lemoran put UST up in the scoreboard early with a goal in the 2nd minute before following it up with another conversion in the 35th minute after evading Ateneo goalkeeper Marie Rianne Caparros.
The schedule for the second round of the tournament is yet to be determined.
