A STRONG second half propelled the UST Golden Booters to a 4-1 rout of the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in the UAAP Season 79 men’s football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

After scoring just one goal in the first 45 minutes, the Golden Booters went on a rampage behind Conrado Dimacili who tallied a goal and an assist in the second half alone.

Dimacili provided an assist to Darryl Regala, who put UST up by three points with a clinical finish in the 78th minute, before finding the back of the net from near midfield in 82nd minute, 4-0.

“Good goals, hindi lang tsamba goals. The second half was better than the first half kasi mas marami kaming chances noong second half,” said UST head coach Marjo Allado said.

The Falcons were chasing shadows early as the Golden Booters already had five shot attempts in the first 10 minutes.

UST’s Renz Gumban ended the scoring drought in the 40th minute with a conversion off a cross from a teammate.

Thirty minutes after, the Golden Booters scored again following a goal from Marvin Bricenio who beneffited from AJ Pasion’s assist, 2-0.

Kim Philip Bardaje put Adamson up the scoreboard in the 87th as his attempt hit the crossbar before going in.

The Golden Booters, who are now at fourth place with a 4-3-1 win-loss-draw record, will face top-seed Ateneo de Manila University on March 25, Saturday, at the same venue.
