The UST Golden Booters scored an easy 4-0 victory against the University of the East in the Ang Liga football tournament at the San Beda College pitch Sunday.

UST played without primary goalkeeper Zaldy Abraham, who received a red card in their game against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Booters in Canlubang, Laguna.

Steven Anotado put UST on board with an effortless goal in the third minute. He then opened the second half with another kick inside the box in the 48th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Moments later, striker Jayson Rafol zoomed past two UE defenders in the 61st minute and drilled another goal before Kenneth Tuzon iced the game with a penalty shot in the 78th minute.

“‘Yung first four minutes ng game nag-press sila (UST) tapos nakakuha ng magagandang pasa. Na-caught off-guard ‘yung UE [kaya] mas maganda ang finishing ng UST,” assistant coach Carlos Santiago told the Varsitarian.

The Red Warriors tried their best to get in the scoreboard but could not capitalize on their attempts in the 46th, 51st, 55th and 67th minutes.

UST bounced back from its 1-0 opening day loss against Ateneo and now holds a 1-1 win-loss record.

The Booters will play against National University on August 19, 3 p.m, at the Gatorade Chelsea Blue Pitch in Makati.
