UST’s bench came out firing and the Lady Booters pummeled the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 3-2, for their third straight win in the UAAP football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.

Seven out of the 11 starters today were substitutes last game.

Shelah Mae Cadag gave the Lady Booters a 3-1 lead with a goal in the 46th minute off a miss by team captain Hazel Lustan.

Lady Maroon Alyssa Ube netted a goal in the 78th minute but it was too late as the Lady Booters notched their third win in four games.

UP’s Mary Rose Obra’s attempt in extra time could have tied the game but the ball went straight to UST keeper Nicole Reyes.

“Masaya [ako] kasi mga second stringer ang starters namin today. Binigyan namin ng chance ang mga second stringer para ma-experience din nila ‘yung high level of competition,” UST head coach Prescila Rubio said.

Season 79 Rookie of the Year MJ Indac broke the one-all tie in the 40th minute after a goal from the top right side of the box.

Blessie Perez put UP on board with a quick goal in the first minute before Lustan scored an equalizer five minutes later.

The Lady Booters are on top of the standings with a 3-1 win-loss card.

The second round schedule is yet to be announced.
