STRIKER Steven Anotado’s late goal propelled the UST Golden Booters to a 1-0 upset against defending champion Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 80 men’s football tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.
Anotado drilled the lone goal of the match off an AJ Pasion assist in the 76th minute.
“So far, ‘yung boys naman motivated. Gusto [nila] manalo against Ateneo,” UST head coach Marjo Allado said.
Anotado led UST in scoring back in Season 77 with 11 goals before two anterior collateral ligament (ACL) injuries sidelined him for two years.
In the 91st minute, Ateneo’s Jarvey Gayoso had a clear attempt for an equalizer but the ball went high over the crossbar.
UST will next face the De La Salle University on Feb. 25, Sunday, 1:30 p.m., at the same venue.
