FORMER UST Lady Judoka Annie Ramirez went home with two gold medals in the second Jiu-Jitsu Regional Championships South East & East Asia held in Hanoi, Vietnam last June 3 to 8.

The two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player breezed through the competition with all of her wins coming via submission.

Ramirez dominated the under-55kgs and open weight classes where she toppled both her Vietnamese opponents.

“Hindi po madali kasi malalakas ‘yung mga kalaban namin dito. Kakaibang experience po sa akin since iba’t iba yung kalaban at mga top player din po sila ng bawat bansa nila,” Ramirez told the Varsitarian via Facebook.

Ramirez, who stopped schooling in second year under UST’s Sports and Wellness Management program, said she wanted to focus on her career.

“About schooling, wala pa po akong plan for now if kailan ako babalik sa pag aaral,” she said.

Ramirez was the UAAP women’s judo MVP for Seasons 73 (2010-2011) and 77 (2014-2015). She is now an assistant of nine-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist John Baylon in his jiu-jitsu gym.
