Nov. 17 2016, 8:44 p.m. – THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers are set advance to the finals after a 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 win over the UE Junior Spikers in the semifinals of the UAAP Season 79 boys’ volleyball tournament at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Thursday.
UST capitalized on UE’s 25 unforced errors with 46 attack points, pouring in 16 kills and 11 aces to clinch a finals ticket.
The Junior Spikers pulled away in the third set off a 5-0 run following a net violation committed by UE, 19-16.
“Very happy kami kasi we have been training for weeks na, kasi alam naman namin na UE ang kalaban namin and it is a good thing na lahat ng preparations ay lumabas sa game,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella said.
Jhun Señoron chalked up 12 points for UST while Jaron Requinton added nine markers.
UST will vie for the title against the Nazareth School of National University in a best-of-three series on Nov. 25, 4 p.m. The venue for the match has yet to be announced. Jan Carlo Anolin
