Nurse is new UST Salinggawi coach

Mark Chaiwalla earned his undergraduate and master's degree in nursing from UST

Former UST Salinggawi member Mark Chaiwalla is back, this time to coach the dance troupe in its bid to recapture the UAAP cheerdance championship.

Chaiwalla, a nurse at the UST hospital, will replace Ramon Pagaduan IV, who guided Salinggawi from 2012 until May this year.

Pagaduan now coaches De La Salle University’s Animo Squad.

Under him, UST finished second and third in 2015 and 2014, respectively. But UST crashed to seventh place, its worst finish in the UAAP, in 2013.

“The pressure’s always there… all I need to do is to lead the team and train them to be the best athletes that they can be,” Chaiwalla told The Varsitarian.

UST is tied with the UP Pep Squad with the most number of UAAP titles with eight apiece.
