THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers breezed past the Adamson University Baby Falcons 25-15, 25-13, 25-12 in the UAAP Season 80 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

The Tiger Spikers improved to a 10-3 record for third place and could clinch a twice-to-beat advantage if they beat the University of the East Red Warriors on Nov. 15.

UST pulled away for good in the third set with a 13-6 blitz before Jesse Tajanlangit denied an Adamson spiker for the win.

Already leading in the 9-4 in the second frame, the Junior Spikers unloaded a 16-8 spurt topped by Rey de Vega’s drop to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Junior Spikers had a slim four-point lead in the opening canto before uncorking a 10-2 run capped by a quick hit from Bonjovi Lopez for an early 1-0 lead.

“It starts with training kasi mina-mind set na natin ang mga players going to the Final Four kasi dun talaga ang labanan. With this game, we just want to give the playes exposure,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella said.

UST hammered Adamson’s floor defense with 40 attack points and 15 aces.

De Vega chalked up 15 points while Kenneth Cawaling chipped in 10 markers.

John Axell Eclipse had three points for Adamson.
