THE UST Tiger Cubs dismantled the Adamson University Baby Falcons, 78-69, in the UAAP Season 80 boys’ basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.
Back-to-back triples by Baby Falcons Adam Doria and Jun Balucio pulled Adamson to within five late in the fourth, 74-69, before CJ Cansino buried a dagger three to put the game out of reach.
“Dine-delay namin ‘yung atake nila kaya pagdating ng fourth quarter, hindi na naka-bulusok ang Adamson. ‘Yung drive nila sa gitna, ‘yun ang na-stop namin,” Tiger Cubs head coach Chris Cantonjos said.
UST dominated the boards, 64-42, and milked 23 second chance points. The Tiger Cubs also converted 16 points off Adamson’s 17 turnovers
Cansino had a monster double-double of 26 points and 21 rebounds while Kobe Palencia followed suit with 17 markers.
Baby Falcon Jose Sabandal had 11 points and six rebounds.
Up next for the Tiger Cubs are the Nazareth School of National University Bullpups on Nov. 26, Sunday, 1 p.m., at the same venue.
