A UST Tigershark took home a gold medal and the Most Outstanding Swimmer honors in the 107th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series at the Diliman Preparatory School swimming pool in Quezon City last Jan. 22.

Sean Terrence Zamora clocked in 1:00.10 to break the boys’ 15-over 100-meter individual medley record, beating Jerard Dominic Jacinto’s 1:02.81 record last year.

“It is a privilege to swim with great swimmers and Olympians,” Zamora told the Varsitarian.

“It gives me the motivation to work harder so that one day when I swim with them again, I will be with the same league as them.”

The 16-year-old tanker, together with teammates Christian Sy, Mark Jiron and Gabriel Guerrero, set a new record in the 400-meter medley in the UAAP with 4:06.84 seconds.

The National Series is a qualifier for international stints such as the 2017 Indian Ocean All-Star Challenge in Australia and the Summer World University Games in Taiwan.

PSL is a swimming association recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission and Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines.
