UST’S high school swimmers collected three gold medals but the collegiate squads went home empty handed in Day 3 of the UAAP Season 80 swimming tournament at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Saturday.

The boys’ team notched two gold, three silver and two bronze medals while the girls team bagged a gold.

UST’s Brayan Camacho, Jiwh Santos, Reynard Gomez and Lanz Dilla set a new record in the 4×50-meter freestyle relay event after a 1:43.31 output.

But the senior teams fell short against powerhouses Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University and the University of the Philippines.

The partial standings were held off after some events in the seniors division remained under protest.

Female Tigershark Mary Angelic Saavedra finished fourth in the 200-meter freestyle event.

“Pressured sa aral, training at ‘yung kulang na tulog at pahinga ay nagkasabay kaya bumigat sila inside the water,” UST juniors’ coach Sharon Parungao-Mangrobang told the Varsitarian.

The tournament resumes today.
