UST rules nat’l taekwondo tilt

July 24, 2016, 3:44p.m. THE UST Junior Lady Jins trounced the National University, 4-1, and took the Junior Women’s Advanced Division title in the 40th National Taekwondo Championships at the Cuneta Astrodome Saturday.

UST’s Raimee Arugay was hailed as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The Junior Lady Jins dismantled Region 6 with a quick 5-0 verdict in the semifinals. The team also made quick work of the Taekwondo Development Hub, 5-0 and the Cagayan De Oro Furious A’s, 4-1.

“Medyo magaling ‘yung kalaban [sa finals], so crucial [ang match]. Nerves may have got in the way but nevertheless, stellar performance from everyone on the team,” UST assistant head coach Gershon Bautista told the Varsitarian.

The Junior Tiger Jins bowed out early exit after losing to the Arellano University-Blue Team, 2-3.
