THE UST Male Tennisters made quick work of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 5-0, in the UAAP Season 79 tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Wednesday.
The Male Tennisters (3-2) are now on second place behind the undefeated University of the East.
UST’s Nico Lanzado scored an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Kyle Joseph while teammate En-en Lopez prevailed in a hard-fought three-setter against UP’s Kyle Atienza.
The pair of Joel Cabusas and Bernlou Bering outhustled Maroons’ Gab Gutierrez and Mimo Tomacruz, 6-3, 6-2.
UST’s Clarence Cabahug and Warren Manlangit put the icing on the cake with a 6-1, 6-4 manhandling of Auden Paduganan and Elijah Arevalo.
“I’m happy kasi pinakita ng players today kung gaano nila kagustong manalo,” UST head coach Alexander Diego said.
UST will face the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Mar. 4, Saturday, 2 p.m., at the same venue.
