IT WAS a perfect day for the UST Lady Tennisters as they dominated all their games against University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 5-0, in the UAAP Season 80 lawn tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Complex Sunday.
Lady Tennister Erika Manduriao opened the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Lady Maroon Willow Day.
After UST’s Kendies Malinis trounced Danielle Carranza, Monica Cruz secured a 6-1, 6-1 victory over UP’s Dana Uy to keep the Lady Tennisters’ record unblemished.
The tandem of Eb-eb Caorte and Meann San Jose solidified UST’s flawless record after routing Monica Cortez and Denise Jimenez, 6-3, 7-5.
“[Nagkaroon] sila ng mindset na we are going 5-0. Ang strategy namin, ‘yung first three games, nilakasan ‘yung lineup,” UST head coach Dennis Sta. Cruz told the Varsitarian.
The Female Tennisters improved to a 3-0 win-loss card.
The schedule of second-round games is yet to be announced.
