FEU pummels Tiger Spikers in PVL

THE UST Tiger Spikers faltered against the Far Eastern University Spikers, 23-25, 23-25, 24-26, in the 1st Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the Arena in San Juan Wednesday.

Trailing by two sets, UST squandered a 24-22 lead in the third frame. But FEU scored four-straight points capped by an error by the Tiger Spikers.

“Sinasabi ko nga na [natalo tayo dahil sa] faulty execution of plays tsaka sa mindset,” UST head coach Odjie Mamon said.

In the second set, the Tiger Spikers equalized at 23-all, but Tamaraw Redijohn Paler capped off FEU’s two-point swing with a hit.

FEU’s John Paul Bugaoan served a lucky ace to lead the first canto, 24-23, before Paler hammered an off-the-block hit.

Bugaoan led the Tamaraws with 16 points while Paler chipped in 11 markers.

Joshua Umandal and Arnold Bautista paced UST with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Tiger Spikers dropped to a 2-2 win-loss card.

UST will face the National University on Sept. 18, Monday, 8 a.m. at the same venue.
