THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses clinched a twice-to-beat advantage after annihilating the University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Lady Maroons, 25-20, 25-10, 25-7, in the UAAP Season 80 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

Leading by 5 early in the third set, UST finished off the Junior Lady Maroons with a 17-4 bomb sealed by Vanessa Bangayan’s crosscourt kill, 25-7.

Already ahead in the second set, the Junior Tigresses sparked another 11-0 outburst topped by team captain Maji Magulabnan’s service ace, 25-10.

UST had a slim 20-19 lead in the first frame, before Merry Rose Jauculan’s service ace topped a late 5-1 surge.

The Tigresses exploited the Junior Lady Maroons’ faulty floor defense with 19 service aces.

Bianca Avila registered six points for UP.

The Junior Tigresses will play their penultimate game against the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors on Nov. 8, Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the same venue.
