THE FOTON Tornadoes mauled the Victoria Sports-UST Golden Tigresses, 25-8, 25-22, 25-16, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the Arena in San Juan Tuesday.
The Tornadoes remained on top with a 7-1 card while the Tigresses were eliminated after losing seven games in a row.
Foton’s Sara Klisura and Ivy Perez scored back-to-back kills to complete the sweep.
“Nada-down mga bata kapag nalalamangan. Ma-iskoran lang ng dalawa, tatlo, hindi kaagad sila nakakapag-react sa sitwasyon,” UST coach Paul Jan Doloiras said.
The Tornadoes were at set point in the second frame, 24-22, when Maika Ortiz punched in a crosscourt kill to seal a 2-0 set advantage.
Foton had a slim two-point lead in the opening salvo before detonating a 19-4 bomb capped by Klisura’s crosscourt kill, 25-8.
Foton dominated the net with 15 blocks while UST had two.
Klisura and team captain Jaja Santiago tallied 13 points apiece while EJ Laure had nine markers.
Dimdim Pacres scored eight points for UST.
The Tigresses will play their last game against the Cignal HD Spikers on Dec. 2, Saturday, 4:15 p.m., at the same venue.
