THE NAZARETH School of National University Lady Bullpups claimed their fourth-straight UAAP championship Monday after a 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 win over the UST Junior Golden Tigresses at the San Juan Arena.
The Junior Tigresses fell short of the title against the Lady Bullpups for the fourth time in as many years.
In the fifth frame, NU extended a two-point lead with a 5-2 blitz capped by a UST error, 25-20.
“After noong semifinals, ang tagal natin naghintay para sa finals match. Nawala ‘yung peak ng physical condition nila,” UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes told the Varsitarian.
Lacsina denied a UST spike to seal a 2-0 set advantage for NU.
Leading 20-15 in the first canto, NU fired a 5-1 spurt capped by Lady Bullpup Ivy Lacsina’s crosscourt hit to draw first blood.
Faith Nisperos led NU with 13 points while Eya Laure paced UST with 10 markers.
Imee Kim Hernandez, Bernadette Pepito, and Laure bagged the first middle blocker, best libero and best opposite hitter awards, respectively.
NU’s Nisperos was hailed Finals MVP.
