Golden Tigresses libero Rica Jane Rivera is expected to miss the entire first round of eliminations after a lateral meniscal tear in the right knee.
Rivera, who will be sidelined for two to four weeks, is scheduled to undergo knee arthroscopy tomorrow at the UST Hospital, coach Emilio Reyes Jr. told the Varsitarian in a text message.
Rivera buckled her knee after digging a hit in the first set of UST’s head-to-head against Ateneo de Manila University last Feb. 11.
Rivera tried to walk off the injury but was later taken out of the game.
Cat Pollentes will fill in the spot of Rivera for the Golden Tigresses for the rest of the first round.
“Kung ano man ang mangyari kay Rica, andiyan pa rin naman siya [para sumuporta]. Kung may mabago man [sa laro], minimal lang pero kailangan naming maging consistent sa ginagawa namin,” Reyes said.
