UST SPIKERS ruled the Philippine Super Liga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup at the SM Sands by the Bay in Pasay Sunday.
UST alumni tandem of Kris Roy Guzman and Anthony Arbasto, who played under the Foton Tornadoes, drubbed NU Sands by the Bay’s Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad in the finals, 21-15, 21-15.
“Malaking bagay ‘yung win namin kanina kasi sobrang laking comeback sa UAAP. Talagang nakabawi na kami,” Guzman told the Varsitarian in a text message.
Back in the UAAP Season 80 beach volleyball finals, the same NU tandem pulled off a 16-21, 21-14, 13-15 thriller to dethrone UST.
In women’s play, UST top scorer Cherry Rondina and former Far Eastern University captain Bernadeth Pons bannered the Petron XCS Spikers and crushed the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors duo of DM Demontaño and Jackie Estoquia for their second-straight PSL crown, 28-8, 21-11.
The tournament ran from May 24 to 27.
