UST Publishing House to launch book on Filipino Dominicans, UST history

A COMMEMORATIVE book on the history of the Dominican Order and the University will be launched at the closing Mass of the Dominican Jubilee Year on Friday, Jan. 20 at Santo Domingo Church in Quezon City.

The book, titled “400@800: A tribute to the 8th Centenary of the Dominican Order (1216-2016),” chronicles the legacy of the Dominican Order in the Philippines.

The coffee table book, published by the UST Publishing House, includes articles from alumni, faculty, staff and Dominican priests including the late historian, Fr. Fidel Villarroel, O.P.

It also features photographs and records from the Dominican Province of the Philippines and the UST Archives.

Divided in four parts, the book narrates the arrival of the order in Asia and the Philippines, the establishment of the University and its development as a modern Catholic institution, and the University’s Quadricentennial celebrations in 2011.

The publication was led by Rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy, O.P. Former rector Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P. served as executive editor.
