Medtech alumnus is Los Angeles’s auxiliary bishop

POPE FRANCIS appointed Msgr. Alejandro Aclan as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on March 5.

Aclan finished his medical technology degree in UST in 1971.

Born on  Feb. 9, 1951, Aclan lived in Pasay until his family migrated to California in 1982.

He entered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California in 1988.

The bishop-elect served as a priest in Los Angeles for 25 years before his appointment.

Aclan was an instructor in UST, and worked in San Miguel Corp. and Citibank.

Aclan is the second Filipino-American priest named bishop in United States. The first was Bishop Oscar Solis, who served as Los Angeles auxiliary bishop from 2004 to 2017.
