FIVE Thomasians are among the fellows of the first literary workshop of Philippines Graphic, the country’s oldest magazine, founded in 1927.
Three fellows come from the Faculty of Arts and Letters, namely fourth-year creative writing students Angela Tabios and Andrea Margaret Guevara, and second-year literature student Bettina Reyes.
Also accepted as fellows are two students from the College of Science, psychology freshman Gillian Santos and psychology junior Dominique Abareta.
Acclaimed fictionist and Palanca-winning author Susan Lara will serve as lecturer in the workshop proper.
Lara chairs the panel of judges of the Nick Joaquin Literary Awards. She has served as a panelist in creative writing workshops organized by the Varsitarian.
The event is part of the Philippines Graphic centennial celebration.
The application was open to undergraduate students, who were each required to submit a flash fiction piece ranging from 100 to 250 words.
The two-day literary workshop is set to take place at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City from Feb. 27 to 28. Charlize Ann D. Lavastida
