FIVE FACULTY members of the UST Department of Medical Technology were elected officers of the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health, Inc. (PASMETH). 

In a Facebook post, PASMETH announced its new slate of executive officers and directors, including former Pharmacy assistant dean Ma. Frieda Hapan, who was elected secretary, and Oliver Dumaoal, who was named public relations officer. 

Hapan is coordinator for the faculty’s teaching and learning materials and quality assurance. She was awarded Most Outstanding Professional in Medical Technology by the Professional Regulation Commission in 2022. 

Dumaoal, who had been a member of the PASMETH board, is the director of the UST GenSan School of Health Sciences. 

Prof. Edilberto Manahan, Prof. Gregorio Martin I, and instructor Mark Raymund Nava were elected to the PASMETH board. 

Manahan is the associate vice rector for academic affairs of UST GenSan and served as inaugural director of the Mindanao campus’ School of Health Sciences. He served as PASMETH secretary in 2023.  

Martin is the coordinator of the faculty’s research ethics committee. He has been a member of the PASMETH board of directors since 2023. 

Nava, who had also previously served on the PASMETH board, was elected national executive secretary of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists Inc. in 2023. 

The new set of executive officers was elected on Oct. 24 by deans and program heads of member schools during the 55th PASMETH convention. 

PASMETH, established in 1970, is a national organization of schools and colleges offering medical technology and public health programs.
