THE LAY arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is set to organize a “pro-life unity walk” to register its opposition to the mounting cases of extrajudicial killings in the country.
“Ang mga laiko ay hindi natutulog. Marami na tayong nagawa para magising tayo sa katotohanan,” Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas President Zenaida Capistrano said in a press conference in Intramuros last Jan. 11.
Capistrano said the event, titled “Walk for Life,” is not a protest but an expression of gratitude for the “gift of life.”
“Extrajudicial killing is not a total solution to [the country’s drug] problem. We have to look into [its] causes,” she said.
The event will take place at Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park on Feb. 18.
