THE OFFICE of Alumni Relations (OAR) and UST Alumni Association Inc. (USTAAI) feted 69 alumni-led initiatives during a year-end celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The event, titled “Threads of Gratitude: A Christmas Celebration-Appreciation Night,” highlighted the efforts of UST organizations and alumni associations throughout the year.
“We recognize your invaluable contributions, particularly the 69 alumni initiatives and projects you undertook last year, which demonstrate your strong commitment towards your mission, purpose, and growth,” UST Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P said in his speech at the Sheraton Manila hotel.
Assoc. Prof. Joreen Rocamora, director of the alumni office, said the University gathered UST alumni in Mindanao for the first time at UST General Santos in November.
“It’s something historic. We have aligned these collaborations with [our] advocacies and our focus areas,” she told the Varsitarian.
The annual Marian Exhibit and Grand Alumni Santacruzan, jointly organized by the OAR and USTAAI, help keep alumni engaged with the University’s long-standing traditions, she said.
To boost ties with various alumni chapters nationwide, Rocamora said the OAR bridges the alumni associations with UST’s colleges and faculties.
The OAR turned over P2 million to the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics from proceeds of the 7th Rector’s Cup, a golf tournament for UST alumni in support of Thomasian student-athletes.
