THE ASSISTANT dean of the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters (Artlets) has been elected president of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP), the organization announced on Sunday, Sept. 28.
Assoc. Prof. John Manuel Kliatchko will serve as president for fiscal year 2025-2026, the PAP said on Facebook.
On Sept. 26, PAP announced that Kliatchko had earned a seat on the national board of trustees for the 2025-2028 term, with five others. He obtained the highest number of votes.
Kliatchko had served as PAP vice president for two consecutive terms. He was last reelected to the post in October 2024 for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
Prior to becoming PAP vice president, he held the position of secretary.
Previously the Artlets faculty secretary, Kliatchko was appointed assistant dean in January 2024, succeeding Prof. Melanie Turingan, who became dean of Artlets.
Kliatchko previously chaired the defunct Artlets interdisciplinary studies department and the behavioral science program.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and his master’s degree in psychology from the University in 1986 and 1998, respectively.
He earned his doctorate of philosophy in psychology from the University of the Philippines in 2009.
